Dear Community Members, Partners, and Friends:

We are pleased to share that the Health Care Authority (HCA) is holding a public comment period for the renewal of Washington State’s Section 1115 Medicaid Waiver, called the Medicaid Transformation Project (MTP), now through Monday, June 13, 2022.

Public participation is vital to the fine-tuning of the renewal application that will be submitted to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) this summer.

We at HealthierHere strongly encourage you and/or your organization to let your voice be heard and submit your public comment to the HCA. HealthierHere will share additional tools and talking points to this blog post soon to support you in providing comments.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us at info@healthierhere.org, and be on the lookout for our follow-up resources here.

We look forward to shaping the direction of the upcoming MTP Waiver Renewal together.

Resources with further information about the 1115 Medicaid Waiver:

MTP allows our state to create and continue to develop projects, activities, and services that improve Washington’s health care system using federal Medicaid funding. All work under MTP benefits those enrolled in Apple Health (Medicaid).

Washington State is currently in the last year of the current MTP waiver, which ends December 31, 2022. If approved, the MTP renewal will begin January 1, 2023, and end December 31, 2027.

Who can provide public comment?

Public comment is open to anyone who would like to share feedback. We encourage health care and social service providers, Tribal Nations, Indian health care providers (IHCPs), managed care organizations, hospitals and health systems, medical associations, community-based organizations, and the public to provide input.

How can you submit your public comment?

Live captioning may be available for the virtual public hearings. Communication Access Real-time Transcription (CART) services, or live closed captioning, may be available for this event, on demand. To request this accommodation, please submit a request to rachelle.alongi@hca.wa.gov as soon as possible. HCA will make every effort to accommodate this request but cannot guarantee that a CART writer will be available.

The Public comment period closes Monday, June 13th 2022 at 5 pm PT.
