Celebrating the Community Based Workers Behind HealthierHere's Community Hub: 2026 CBW Celebration

Recognizing the workforce that makes community care possible

August 21, 2026
August 20, 2026

On July 23rd, 2026, HealthierHere gathered at the Tukwila Community Center in Tukwila, WA, for its annual CBW Celebration Event, bringing together community based workers, supervisors, and partner organizations to celebrate their work and introduce two new honors within the Community Hub network. Community based workers (CBWs) build the relationships that make the HealthierHere Community Hub work. They walk alongside King County residents navigating health and social systems, connecting people to food, health care, transportation, and other resources, often over months of relationship-building.

Introducing the CBW Champion and Supervisor Champion Awards

The centerpiece of the event was the launch of two new recognitions: the HealthierHere Community Hub CBW Champion Award and the Supervisor Champion Award, created to honor individuals whose leadership reflects the values at the core of the Community Hub, including equity, partnership, and community-centered care.

This year's CBW Champion Award was presented to Kayla Guild-Taylor of Neighborhood House, and the Supervisor Champion Award was presented to Vy Mai of Project Access Northwest. Both awards are presented annually as a standing recognition of the workforce driving the Community Hub's success.

An afternoon of connection

After the award presentations, attendees stepped outside for a group photo before settling in for lunch and community-building. Guests made zines out of recycled newspapers and magazines, played a round of bingo open to Community Based Workers, and caught up with familiar colleagues and new partners alike.

“CBWs are essential because so many bring lived experience to their work. They are the ones on the ground who can relate to their community, advocate on its behalf, and help people navigate disjointed systems to get the support they need.”  - Community Based Worker and CBW Celebration Attendee

Another attendee reflected on what it meant simply to share space with others doing the same work, calling it beautiful to hear about the different ways everyone is contributing to both their individual missions and the collective mission of HealthierHere.

That sense of shared purpose is what the CBW Celebration Event was designed to honor. The success of the HealthierHere Community Hub depends on the people who show up for their communities every day, and their work deserves to be seen and celebrated.

Congratulations to Kayla and Vy and thank you to every Community Based Worker and supervisor who continues to show up for their communities. Your dedication and care create meaningful impact, and we're honored to celebrate this work alongside you.
