Celebrating the Tribal and Indigenous-led Partners Advancing Health

Tribal and Indigenous-led organizations across the HealthierHere network are advancing health and well-being rooted in culture, community, and traditional knowledge

On Monday, October 12, 2026, communities across the country will observe Indigenous Peoples' Day, a day to recognize and celebrate the history, cultures, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous peoples and communities.

At HealthierHere, we are grateful for the Tribal and Indigenous-led organizations that help shape our work across King County. These partnerships reflect what we believe health equity requires: honoring community knowledge, building lasting relationships, and supporting health and well-being in ways that are grounded in culture and community.

This Indigenous Peoples' Day, we're highlighting some of the many Indigenous partners in the HealthierHere network and the work they lead in our communities.

Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB) provides culturally grounded, whole-person health services for American Indian and Alaska Native communities. In 2026, SIHB joined the HealthierHere Community Hub as a Case Management Partner, helping connect King County residents with the health and social resources they need. https://www.sihb.org/

Unkitawa is an Indigenous-led organization that uses traditional art, culture, ceremony, and wellness practices to support and empower Indigenous communities in South King County and beyond. Through Community & Tribal Innovations projects, HealthierHere has partnered with Unkitawa to expand access to cultural teachings, first foods, traditional medicines, and community-based approaches to healing. https://www.unkitawa.org/

Naa káani Native Program strengthens Indigenous health and cultural connection through traditional medicine, cultural education, and community programs. Its work includes traditional medicine education and internships, cultural events, and programs that help Native children in foster care build connection to their cultural and spiritual traditions. https://www.nakani.org/

Ancestral Sisterhood is a Native-led organization supporting Indigenous women and families through cultural connection, community building, and healing. Its work creates spaces where Indigenous women can strengthen their relationships with their ancestry, their culture, and one another. https://ancestralsisterhood.org/

United Indians of All Tribes Foundation (UIATF) was founded in Seattle in 1970 and provides culturally responsive social, educational, and community services for the urban Native community. Through programs at Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center and throughout the region, UIATF supports cultural connection, family and youth services, workforce development, housing stability, and health and well-being. https://unitedindians.org/

Native American Women's Dialogue on Infant Mortality (NAWDIM) is a collective of Native care providers, community members, grandmothers, and allies supporting the health and well-being of Native mothers, babies, and families. Through community education, advocacy, cultural teachings, and initiatives like cradleboard classes and baby welcoming ceremonies, NAWDIM works to advance Indigenous birth equity and create safer, healthier futures for Native families. https://nawdim.org/

Headwater People has supported the evaluation of HealthierHere's Tribal Innovations and Traditional Indigenous Medicines initiatives, helping uplift the lessons, partnerships, and practices grounded in Tribal values and Indigenous knowledge. https://headwaterpeople.com/

Together, these organizations show what community-centered care looks like when it's led by the communities it serves. We're honored to work alongside them, and grateful for the knowledge, care, and leadership they bring to King County every day.
