Healing begins with connection to culture, community, our lands and waters, and one another. For generations, Indigenous knowledge has shown that health is rooted in these relationships.
This Native American Heritage Month, we are honored to share Indigenous Health & Sovereignty: Fostering Healthier Communities, a new short film created in partnership with Native leaders and Tribal partners across King County. Through their voices, the video explores how cultural practices, community care, and the inherent right to Tribal self-determination shape healthier futures for Indigenous people today and for generations ahead.
Across our region, Tribal partners are restoring balance and leading efforts to build systems that honor traditional knowledge. From holistic healing and wellness to strengthening the social supports that surround families, these leaders continue to guide pathways toward community-driven health.

To deepen connections and support this work year-round, we’re also launching our new Tribal Health webpage. This growing connection point brings together community resources, stories, educational materials, events, and updates on our Tribal Strategic Priorities. It reflects ongoing work that happens in relationship with listening, learning, and honoring sovereignty at the center.
We invite you to watch the film, explore the webpage, and join us in celebrating Native joy, Native health, and the leadership shaping a more equitable King County.
